Tell us about your golf background.
I have been playing golf for the last 13 years. I started when I was 12 years old, played competitive junior, high school golf, college + minor tour golf events.
Why do you love golf?
I love golf because it is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots, good breaks from bad shots but you have to play the ball from where it lies. -Bobby Jones
I'm so grateful to have had this game in my childhood as it always kept me humble, determined and focused.
You have a pretty characteristic look on the course with your socks. What is the story behind them?
It actually started with sun protection. My mother made me wear long pants and sleeves in 115 degree Palm Springs weather. We clashed heads for a while and ended up with a compromise: that I could only wear skirts if I could find the longest socks I could find. What started as sun protection ended up a fashion statement, it followed me from junior golf, to high school, to college, mini tour golf events and then to social media.
You recently started a business, how has that experience been for you?
Yes! It has been hands down the best experience I've ever had. Some of the toughest too, such high's and low's but wouldn't trade it for the world. Having a platform gave such a head start to us, and I have really been using the business philosophy of Ready, Fire, Aim which basically believes in testing the market and being flexible in your approach.
What has helped you most improve your golf game?
What has helped my golf game would 100% be mental. Playing competitive golf, what always hindered my game was the mental aspect. I've learned so much in the past 10 years that no only help my game but my life as well. It's all about staying in the middle and being self aware. You have to be fearless but not reckless. Hard working but not attached to outcome. It's truly an art.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting golf or is new to the game?
I would say, just do it. Pick up some clubs, bring some friends, step out of your comfort zone, ignore the stares and embrace the awkwardness of starting something new. It'll be worth it in the end.
If you could only play one course for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Oh, Pebble Beach for sure!
Who is in your dream foursome and why?
Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie + Obama
Phil to learn short game, Tiger to learn his mental game, Michelle to learn from her driving and Obama to learn his grace.
You have a pretty large instagram following, what is something your followers don’t know about you that you wish they did?
I think something that I wish followers knew is my work ethic. Instagram is not always reality and it may seem (rightfully so) that all I do is play golf and party but there are days when I'm glued to the computers screen for 10 hours a day.
Who or what inspires you most in life?
